Our newest visitors to the garden
This morning the CORE garden welcomed a hummingbird. It enjoyed the sweet nectar of the Torch sunflowers. It visited each flower and hovered over the borage before taking off. We were enjoying its visit so much that no one pulled out their phone to take a picture. I think that made it even more special.
We have hundreds of blooms on our tomatoes. By mid to late August we will have a wonderful bounty of seven different varieties.
Worried about the peas they look a little sad. Will do more research to find out how to grow them better for next year.
Lastly, we were visited over night by a family of deer who came into the hoop-house and feasted on the collard greens. They ate 5 whole plants before moving on.
Learning a lot about farming and taking in all the lessons each and every day.

A special visit
Yesterday evening before sunset our garden was visited by a grandma and her eight year old granddaughter. The grandma wanted to show her granddaughter the hoophouse. They both immediately volunteered to help water and thin out some of the plants. The little girl wanted to know if we could make salsa. She visited the peppers, smelled the cilantro and was excited yo see the tiny tomatoes growing. She reminded me that we would need a lime tree in the future and told me she would be back.

Quiet morning In the garden
This morning the focus was on prepping the soil and getting the Kentucky Wonder Bush Beans in the ground. They are high yield producers so we are excited. Everything that's planted is doing well so far.
We have some challenges in the garden, we are still short on compost which has prevented us from getting some things planted like the sweet potatoes. Not sure if they will make it.
A wonderful volunteer named Dennis donated some tomatoes he started at home. Angela stopped in for a bit to plant some marigolds too. Thanks Dennis and Angela ! Come back any time.🌞🌿🌾🌺
